Creative Aging World Drumming

Drumming is a community experience that connects us to the rhythms of life and one another. Through a partnership with Broadway School of Music & the Arts, a 10-week Creative Aging World drumming class series will be held at the Memorial Nottingham Branch with teaching artist Jordan R. Lee.

Learn the basic rhythms of drumming, the important role drumming plays in African life, and experience the soothing effects of repetition. Many different drumming styles will be explored and taught such as Afro-Cuban, Afro-Brazilian, West African Djembe DunDun tradition, Bomba tradition from Puerto Rico, as well as Samba from Bahia, Brazil in South America.

Consistent weekly attendance is requested for older adult participants to build sequential skills, culminating in a performance to be announced in the future.

For questions contact Danielle at 216.623.2921. Registration is Required.
