At The Table: A Conversation with Amy DuBois Barnett

As part of the MLK One Year Celebration, we are proud to present an author event featuring Amy DuBois Barnett, an acclaimed magazine editor and the first African American woman to lead a major mainstream magazine in the United States. A former editor-in-chief of Ebony, Honey, and Teen People, and the former deputy editor of Harper’s Bazaar, Barnett visits Cleveland as part of her national book tour for her newly released book, If I Ruled the World, a powerful and inspiring exploration of leadership, vision, and possibility.

The conversation will be moderated by Cleveland native and celebrated actor Richard Lee Brooks. Richard Lee Brooks honed his craft at the historic Karamu Theatre before emerging as one of the city’s most accomplished acting exports. His work ranges from August Wilson’s Fences to starring as ADA Paul Robinette on Law & Order and appearing in acclaimed series like Chicago P.D.Abbott Elementary, and 9-1-1.
