Make Cleveland History!

An Evening sponsored by the Cleveland Public Library and the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History.

Join us for an evening of films, food, and discussion about how you can make Cleveland history by contributing your enthusiasm and knowledge to the expansion of the on-line edition of the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History.

When it was first launched in 1980, the Encyclopedia engaged the community in developing the content for what would become the first modern urban encyclopedia. During the past year the staff of the ECH have been returning to that founding ideal of community engagement – seeking ideas and content that will expand and update the current on-line edition of the ECH.

This will be an informal gathering to discuss ideas, debate the nuances of “CLE History” and to meet the staff of the ECH and the Center for Local & Global History of the Cleveland Public Library. AND – it will be an opportunity to see Cleveland on film. We will screen the 1916 film Perils of Society, produced by one of the nation’s first women film makers, and Streetcar, a 1953 film by Jasper Wood.

So, join us for a discussion of the future of Cleveland’s past.
